Quilting 101
When: Wednesdays, January 13th, 20th , 27th,and February 3rd. 1-4 or 6-9
Where: Quilted Forest Classroom

Difficulty: Beginner
Have you always wanted to learn how to quilt? Here is your chance. Betty is going to go through the basics of quilting: cutting, stitching, pressing, strip piecing, flying geese, triangle squares, sashing, cornerstones, machine quilting, binding, labels and more! During the first class you will talk about supplies and tools. Please be comfortable sewing on your own machine. This is the place to begin your amazing quilting journey.
Scrap Therapy
When: Saturday & Sunday, January 23rd & 24th, 9-6
Where: Quilted Forest Classroom
Cost: $25
Open to past Scrap Therapy weekend participants only
We love Scrap Therapy! It’s time to get back to quilting now that the holidays are over. Come work on those scrap therapy projects you haven’t quite finished or start a new one! Cost includes lunches & snacks. Sign up early because space is limited.
Sock Sack
When: Thursday, January 28th, 1-4 or 6-9
Where: Quilted Forest Classroom
Cost: $10 plus zippers and fabric
Difficulty: Confident Beginner
We will be making a sock sack which is a pattern on Terry Atkinson’s blog site. It’s a great Valentine’s Day gift giving idea, you could fill with it with a gift card and sweet treats, or what ever your hear desires. This bag has a zipper so this class is a great way to get comfortable sewing a zipper. Terry says: “Zippers are No Big Deal!”
Fire Escape
When: Wednesdays, February 10th & 24th, 1-4 or 6-9
Where: Quilted Forest Classroom
Cost: $20 plus pattern and fabrics
Difficulty: Confident Beginner
From West Side Story to Rent, fire escapes have inspired many dramatic moments. Who knows, maybe you will be so inspired you’ll write a musical to go with your quilt! Come join Betty to piece this beautiful quilt by Terry Atkinson, See a completed sample at The Quilted Forest.
Sew-per Bowl Sunday
When: Sunday, February 7th 12-5
Where: Quilted Forest Classroom
Cost: $20, included team t-shirt and pillow case kit as well as 5 pillowcase patterns
(There’s a sale this day also and yummy snacks to keep your energy up, a real party!)
Difficulty: Beginner
We’re having a pillowcase sewing party at the shop! If you would like to come in your PJs that would make it even more fun! We’re taking part in the American Patchwork and Quilting Sew a Million Pillowcases promotion. The great thing about this promotion is that the pillowcases will help local organizations. All donated pillowcases will go to Krysillis and/or the Good Samaritan Center. Come sew for the day on the pillowcases you will donate or make some for yourself!
Beginning Paper Piecing
When: Wednesday, February 17th 1-4 or 6-9
Where: Quilted Forest Classroom
Cost: $20 + materials
Difficulty: Confident Beginner
Discover why this method of quilting is so popular when you see how accurate your piecing can be! Learn the basics of sewing on a paper foundation while you make a notions pouch to carry your rotary cutter and other supplies. If you can sew a straight line and count, you can paper piece!
Marathon Quilting Day
When: Friday February 19th, 10am-10pm
Where: Quilted Forest Classroom
Cost: $10, includes dinner
How would you like to get in a FULL day of sewing where no one can bother you? Well, how about at the Quilted Forest? Come and bring project you would like to finish. Invite your friends to come too and make it a social day. Please bring your own lunch and we will provide dinner, bring a snack that you would like to share.
Day and Night
When: Thursdays, March 11th and 18th, 1-4 or 6-9
Where: Quilted Forest Classroom
Cost: $25 + materials + book
Difficulty: Intermediate
Day and Night will mystify, enchant, and entertain you! No smoke and mirror here—the technique is magical. Stars are made from strips and two additional projects (Mini Star Quilt and Spider Web Quilt) can be made from your cut-aways. Come in and let Betty teach you how to make this wonderful quilt by Eleanor Burns.
Strippers for Stripes!
When: Saturday & Sunday, March 20th & 21st. 10-4
Where: Quilted Forest Classroom
Cost: $30 + materials
Difficulty: Confident Beginner
Do you love stripes but wonder how to use them? This class is for you! This pattern is only available to class participants and is a “three for one” – get the start of 3 projects from one set of fabrics. You’ll get a twin-sized project 68x100 plus blocks to make another lap-sized project and using all your left-overs get a start on another baby/lap-sized project to use it all up. Come see samples in the shop! This pattern is scheduled to appear in a Fons & Porter Publication sometime in 2010.
Rent the Classroom! Cost is $5/person or $50 whichever is the lesser amount (this covers the entire rental period this is not a per hour rate) – payable on use day. This cost is for regular business hours, Monday – Friday: 10 am to 5 pm, Saturday: 10 am – 4 pm; rental before or after regular business hours will cost an additional $10/hour for the entire group. On the day the classroom renter is in the store you’ll also receive 10% off merchandise purchased, you could easily make up the classroom fee in savings at the register! Call to reserve a fun day for you and your quilting/crafting friends!
Rent the Accucut GO! : Cost is $10/hour and includes use of classroom space. Use as many dies as you would like! It is the renter’s responsibility to purchase the plastic for each die size used. We recommend that all fabric is pressed and ready to cut for your appointment, you don’t want to waste that hourly rate on ironing! Ready to buy the Go! at the end of the day? We’ll take the rental cost off of the purchase price!

Moda University at the Quilted Forest!
Moda University at the Quilted Forest will be a club for you to participate in every month, this year’s quilt is called Green Piece. This quilt offers a choice of appliqué, embroidery or both as well as piecing. Each month you will pick up your block patterns.
You may select your own fabric to use for the interior of the quilt, here at the shop we are making our quilt with Asian fabrics (borders will be purchased as part of the enrollment for club).
We will have Quarterly meetings

These meetings you won’t want to miss! Only club members will be able to attend these meetings, they are by invitation only! There will be door prizes, meeting only specials, a presentation of new kits and quilts in the shop, and show and tell. Your assignment?: To bring something to show and tell with the group as well as your completed previous month blocks.
Enrollment Fees: The enrollment fee is the purchase of the background and borders you will need to finish your quilt (approximately 6 yards). When you purchase the 6 yards of fabric there will be a $10 fee for the patterns (this will be the pattern fee for the entire year.) Each month when you come in for your patterns, you will pick them up at no charge.
